FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Activists to Break Russian “Gay Propaganda” Law During Olympics, Send 10,000 Pro-Gay Children’s Coloring Books Featuring Gay Kiss to Russian Homes with Kids
Copies of “Misha & His Moms Go to the Olympics” to Be Mailed Directly to Homes with Children in Sochi and Moscow During Winter Games in Defiance of Anti-Gay Law
San Francisco, CA – October 30, 2013 – Shocked by the rise in Russian anti-gay violence fueled by the Olympic host nation’s anti-gay laws, LGBT equality T-shirt company FCKH8.com will directly reach Russia’s children with a pro-gay coloring book that showcases a lesbian family and gay kiss during the week of the Olympics. Activist are protesting the “gay propaganda” law that makes it a punishable crime to say anything positive about being gay when someone under 18 years old might hear, see or read it. With its “Gay OK” message, the specially-created “Misha and His Moms Go to the Olympics” will be mailed directly to homes with children in both Sochi and Moscow. Activists are taking the action of breaking the law and directly mailing the books to children to confront the anti-gay hysteria that is sweeping the country. The illegal action is also being taken to circumvent President Putin’s attempt to quash international media scrutiny during the sporting February events with his ban on human rights protests and free speech in Sochi.
“Russia has made it a crime for any pro-gay words to be spoken and that law is about to be broken.” said FCKH8.com founder, Luke Montgomery. “The message of this coloring book is to let kids in Russia know that being gay is normal. Beating and imprisoning people just for being out of the closet, or arresting them for simply saying that it’s OK if someone in their family is gay, is an attack on human rights and a trashing of the Olympic spirit. We’re going to be breaking this homophobic law and there’s nothing the government can do to stop it.”
The activist T-shirt company’s rainbow-covered coloring book, printed in the Russian language, tells the story of a Moscow boy named Misha and his two lesbian mothers going to the Olympics. It shows the boy meeting friends from around the world, one with a mother and father, and another who has two legally married dads who are shown exchanging a small kiss with the Olympic flag in the background. Other pages that children can fill in with crayons depict Russian police beating a gay couple for holding hands and a page highlighting two straight female Olympic medal winners kissing on the winner’s platform to protest the anti-gay law. Also included is a page showing a terrified Misha being taken out of his home by police as the recently proposed law to forcibly remove children from homes with gay parents would do. The book concludes on a happy note with Misha dreaming of a Russia where his family is treated equally and the boy proudly wearing a T-shirt sold on the FCKH8.com website that reads, “Some Chicks Marry Chicks. Get Over It.”
Activists are using consumer data to identify homes with children and will be mailing the coloring books in multiple styles of plain wrappers to avoid detection and seizure by authorities. Like the various methods of disguising the books for mailing, the printing location for the illegal books is being kept a close secret. FCKH8.com is working with activists inside Russia on the project and is keeping their identities secret to protect them from arrest and prosecution.
As part of the online social media campaign to share the book’s message and evade the Russian authorities efforts to stop it, the book is being offered as a free printable PDF download at FCKH8.com which allows anybody to print out their own copy. Detailed photos of the coloring book and its pages are viewable on the FCKH8.com Facebook and Tumblr pages where the group hopes to garner 100,000 Facebook “Likes” and reblogs on Tumblr to spread the word. Photos include a smiling 5 year-old boy wearing a T-shirt with Russian text that translates into “GAY OK” using crayons to fill in the drawing of two legally married gay dads kissing.
“Being lesbian and gay is normal and OK. Beating and jailing people for being out of the closet or supporting their gay family members is not OK. Talking about gay people does not make kids ‘turn’ gay anymore than talking about left-handed people makes kids left-handed.” stated Montgomery. “This is a cruel and stupid law, and we’ll break it to make its attack on basic human rights the story of the Sochi Olympics. We’re hoping thousands can join us online at FCKH8.com to speak out against this homophobic violence.” He adds, ”Every single one of our equality T-shirts we offer on our website is banned and illegal in Russia because of this law. We’re not sitting by while brave civil rights voices in Russia are brutally beaten and censored.”
The group also plans to distribute thousands of wristbands to Olympic spectators that read “GAY OK” in both Russian and English to further flout the law. Activists are upset that the International Olympic Committee has not heeded calls to move the games and will distribute the bands at Olympic events in Sochi allowing attendees from around the globe to support equality in defiance of local law. The rainbow-colored wristbands are currently being sold on the FCKH8.com website to help fund distribution during the Olympics. A line of Russian language LGBT rights tees has also been added to the site’s offering of slogan-covered T-shirts.

After breakfast, Katy returns to the Staples Centre for last minute rehearsals and Ryan leaves for work.
It’s Katy’s final night performing and she’s more nervous than ever. She falls on to her sofa chair and lies on her back before her make-up artist walks over to begin preparing Katy for her last ever California Dreams Tour show.
"I’ll be back in a minute Kate." Todd, her make-up artist, tells her.
She sits up and looks in the mirror in front of her. A sudden rush of sadness takes over her body as she realise this is the last time she’ll be getting this glittery make-up perfected on her skin.
The door cracks open slightly and Shannon puts her head in.
"All clean?" She says before entering.
"Yep! Come on in." Katy says turning and smiling at her best friend.
"How you feeling?" Shannon asks returning the smile.
"Nervous, to be honest…"
"Well are you sure you wanna do this?"
"100%" Katy replies firmly.
Tamra walks in with wide eyes and says sternly, “Do what Katy?”
Katy and Shannon look at each other and giggle.
"Shan wants to skip the show and start drinking now, I told her no, of course." Katy says, shaking her head in disapproval at her best friend.
"Shannon!? It is Katy’s last night! Hold yourself together woman. I will be right back." She walks off and Katy starts laughing at Tamra’s reaction.
"You’re a bitch." Shannon says grumpily.
"That’s why you love me." Katy winks.
After her wig and first costume is on, Katy and the rest of the crew gather round in a circle on the side of the stage.
"Okay guys, we’ve had an amazing run and I wanna thank each and every one of you. This has been one of the best years of my life-"
"-And ours!" One of the dancers yells out and they all cheer. Katy can’t control a huge smile and continues…
"So let’s do this one last show, for the hardcore fans out there. They’re not here for me, they’re here for a show, for all of us! Let’s do this! ONE, TWO, THREE…"
"CALIFORNIA DREAMS TOUR!" They all scream and throw their hands up in the air. The whole crew start cheering whilst walking off to their starting positions but Katy stands on the side still.
"Katy! Katy! Come on! Places!" One of the stage directors yells at her.
"I’ll be there in a sec!" She replies anxiously. "Where are you Ry…" Katy whispers underneath her breath, looking around for him.
She hears the crowd chanting her name, waiting excitedly. After a few seconds more, she turns and starts to walk quickly to her position.
"Katy! Katy!" She stops and turns quickly at her favourite voice.
"Hi baby" She says cutely. "I was scared you weren’t going to make it."
Their hands quickly join and close the gap between them. He places a light kiss on to her lips and smiles.
"Don’t worry, I’ll always be here for you, remember?" Katy smiles and nods up at him. "I know you need to go, but I just wanted to wish you luck and to enjoy yourself out there. I’m so proud of you and don’t forget, you deserve every single cheer and clap you get out there-"
"Stop it, stop it, you’re gonna make me cry!" Katy said, blinking frantically to make sure her make-up didn’t run. Ryan laughed and held the sides of her faces.
"I love you so much." He said meaningfully.
"I love you too." They pressed their lips together before Katy started to walk towards the stage. "Forever…"
"And always!" He shouted before watching her turn round a corner for her start.
The show starts and it is one of Katy’s best performances yet, so far…
The lights go off and Katy runs off the stage to prepare for her next song. She takes a seat on the swing ready for her next performance of ‘Not Like the Movies’.
Just as the man starts to press the button to higher the swing, Katy puts her hand out.
"Stop the swing when I say."
"Of course Miss. Perry." He nods and she continues up.
"Hey Ryan." Shannon says, joining Ryan, who is standing as close to being on the stage as possible. "Close enough?" She giggles.
"Be quiet." He laughs. "Just supporting…"
"Well you’ll love this next one." Shannon says slyly.
"What do you mean?" He asks confused, knowing she is hiding something.
Katy swallows, hoping the lump in her throat will leave.
As her body is lifted higher on the swing, returning back into the sight of thousands of her fans, her stomach feels as if it was left down on the ground.
"Thank you, thank you." She says, appreciating the deafening applause. "This next song is called Not Like The Movies." She screaming occurs again and the piano begins. "Shhh!" She laughs a little.
The crowd quietens. “And you!” Katy jokingly says to her piano player, he turns his volume down but continues playing.
"This song means a lot to me, it’s about falling in love, and well it fits perfectly to the position I am in at the moment." Katy gushes to the crowd.
Shannon looks up at Ryan to see him grinning at his girlfriend. She knew he was the one for her best friend. There is a certain look that tells it all. That shows true love through the eyes. And Shannon could see it, flooding through Ryan’s pair.
"I am in love, head over heels in love actually." Katy says more nervously.
Ryan’s eyes widen as he stands there surprised. Where was she going with this? Was she going to reveal their relationship? He thought to himself. For Ryan to be able to publicly date his girlfriend has been all he had wanted since the moment they met, but Katy never seemed ready.
"I’m not sure whether some of you have seen him in the news or in pictures, but I’d like to confirm it now, first and foremost to you, my Katycats, that yes I am in a relationship and can say to you that I am happier than ever."
Katy giggles and put her face down as the thousands scream and pictures are taken. In moments, this video will be all over the web.
Shannon nudges Ryan’s side. “You ready for this life? Paparazzi and trolls everywhere?”
He turns and faces her with a smile still as big the moment he saw Katy appear on stage. “I’m ready for my life with Katy.”
"Yayyyy!" Shannon cheered and hugged him. They’re interrupted by Katy’s voice being blasted through the speakers again.
"I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t like me if I shouted him out on stage so…" As she tries to continue the fans go wild beneath her.
"Come out! Come out! Come out!" They cheered louder than any audience has before.
Ryan’s cheeks turn red. Katy looks to the side of the stage to see him. She starts to giggle as he frantically waves his arms around and shakes his head.
"NO! NO! NO!" Ryan shouts, laughing but showing he wasn’t joking.
"But this one is for you, Ryan-" She holds her eye contact with him. "Because with you, it is always like the movies…"
Ryan smiles and blows her a kiss, having to hold himself back from going on to the stage to kiss. She smiles widely, causing her nose to crinkle and faces back to her audience.
Katy sat on one of the stools in her kitchen as Ryan cooked them lunch.
"So when do you wanna move some of your stuff in?" Katy asked excitedly.
Ryan smiled, loving the happiness the idea of them two living together brought to her.
"I don’t mind, whenever we’re both free I guess. Have you got any more shows or anything planned?"
"I’ll check now…" Katy opens her calender app on her phone and scans through the next month. "All I’ve got is an interview with Ellen and two shows at the Staples Centre! Then I’m all yours, baby." Katy winks at Ryan as he serves up the food.
He shakes his head laughing at her horniness even though they had had sex only an hour ago. Katy gets up to carry the plates to the table.
"I thought you had done all your shows now? How come you have two more here?" Ryan asks her.
"Well I’m doing them both for free, for my Katycats, the ones that maybe couldn’t afford it but wanted to come or were ill or something."
Ryan gently pulled Katy closer to him by the waist. “How did I manage to get you all to myself?” He asked her with a tone of disbelief.
"I’ve got no idea!" Katy giggles and flips her hair in Ryan’s face as she turns.
He holds her waist again but this time starts to tickle her.
Katy wriggles but is trapped in between Ryan and the counter. She tries to fight back but there she knows she has no chance of winning.
"Ryan! Ryan! Please I’m sorry!"
"Never!" Katy exclaims and goes under his arms running off. He chases after her and grabs her waist and spins her around. They’re both laughing so much that they both find it hard to keep their breath.
Ryan picks her up and carries her towards the sofa. He holds her above the sofa and looks down at her lovingly as she giggles in his arms.
"Come on, spit it out."
"Okay, okay, I give in. You win." Katy mutters, obviously not wanting to admit she has been defeated and give Ryan the pleasure of hearing it. They were both as competitive as the other.
Instead of dropping her down, he slowly lowers her on to her back whilst resting himself on top.
"Now, when are there concerts?" He asks her whilst they rest on the sofa.
"This Thursday and Friday night!" She smiles up at him, wrapping her arms around his neck. Ryan takes a second and thinks to himself.
"Because it’s Monday today, I could probably swap some shifts around so I’m working in the daytime then." Ryan suggests.
"You don’t have to do that, I understand, don’t worry babe." Katy comforts him, knowing she’s already caused trouble with his work before.
"I want to though. It’s your final two concerts of the tour which brought us together. I wouldn’t miss it for the world." He smiles and pecks her lips.
"And that’s why I’m dating the boss." Katy smiled and leaned in for a more passionate kiss.
"Now, lets eat before the food gets cold!" Katy says excitedly and they hurry back to their lunch.
The rest of the week went by quickly, with Ryan working more than usual and Katy rehearsing and checking everything was going to plan for her shows.
Finally, Friday night comes along. With Katy on stage, doing what she does best and Ryan on the side of the stage, his eyes full of love and support for his talented girlfriend.
Everything went to plan and the fans seemed to love the show. Who wouldn’t…
Katy and Ryan arrive back at their house together and just as he turns the engine off, he notices she is fast asleep. He quietly gets out his side and walks round to her to carry her inside. Just as he picks her up, she starts to mumble some incomprehensible words.
Ryan smiles but continues to get her up to bed without waking her. He walks up the stairs with her in his arms and tucks her into bed.
"I love you, Katy." He says quietly and then kissing her forehead and walking back out the room to lock up downstairs. Just before he reaches the bedroom door he hears a noise.
"Ryan…" Katy whispered. He looks back and she is resting herself up on her elbows. "I love you too." They both smile meaningfully at each other before Katy’s head collapses back on to her pillow.
Just googled him… no.
